ECA Advocacy Update: November 11, 2024
1. New President and Congress elected |
On election day, 148 million Americans (and still counting!) went to the polls and voted for change in the White House and Senate.
|
- White House: President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect J.D. Vance will be sworn in on inauguration day (January 20, 2025) after sweeping all 7 swing states and winning 312 electoral votes.
- Senate: Republicans will lead the Senate for the next two years after picking up hotly-contested seats in West Virginia, Ohio, Montana, and Pennsylvania.
- House of Representatives: While the House of Representatives remains too close to call, Republicans will likely narrowly control the chamber with 219-221 seats (218 seats are needed for a majority).
|
ECA's view: “The Exhibitions & Conferences Alliance (ECA) congratulates President-elect Donald Trump, Vice President-elect J.D. Vance, and the re-elected and newly-elected Members of Congress," said ECA's Tommy Goodwin.
"As the unified advocacy voice of the business and professional events industry, ECA looks forward to working our elected officials to advance the industry’s policy priorities and drive economic growth, support job creation, empower small businesses nationwide, and help solve our most urgent societal challenges.”
What's next? Tax reform will be front and center on Capitol Hill in 2025.
|
- ECA supports federal tax reform that is pro-growth, pro-investment, pro-impact, and pro-workforce development.
